"Was Amy Winehouse pregnant before she died?" - This is the question the late "Rehab" hitmaker's father answered recently while speaking against the makers of his daughter's documentary, which apparently portrayed the singer-songwriter in a manner that her family didn't like.
Hitting out at the Amy Winehouse biopic makers, the late singer's dad, Mitch Winehouse, made a shocking announcement that his daughter had actually thought that she was carrying a bun in the oven prior her death, reported Huffington Post.
Mitch made this revelation Aussie television in an attempt to clarify that his daughter was very different from what the documentary portrayed her - a loner albeit her romantic relationship with Brit filmmaker Reg Traviss before she passed away.
Mitch said that the idea that his daughter was a loner wasn't plausible because Amy was happy with Traviss that they were about to tie the knot before the singer's death.
"I shouldn't tell you this but she thought she was pregnant at some stage," Amy Winehouse's father said adding, "To give the impression that she was on her own is frankly criminal."
Despite her short career, Amy managed to bask under the limelight following the success of her hit singles "Rehab and "Back To Black." At the age of 27, Amy passed away due to alcohol poisoning.
The Amy Winehouse documentary was helmed by Asif Kapadia, who has yet to respond to Mitch's statement. However, back in April, Kapadia said that they were working on the project in the most objective manner possible, as per Inquisitr.
"When we were approached to make the film, we came on board with the full backing of the Winehouse family and we approached the project with total objectivity," he said at the time.
Given that the Amy Winehouse documentary wasn't done in they way they wanted it to be, Mitch and Reg are said to be in talks to come up with their own biopic of the late singer.
A source with knowledge on the issue told Mirror, "Mitch and Reg are talking about doing something to correct all the wrongs and omissions in the new film. Their own take on Amy's life is being discussed."
