Shonda Rhimes is a genius! With three successful ABC shows all gearing up for its season premiere this September — she has made Thursday nights more exciting to look forward to than Fridays. #TGIT indeed.
In a #TGIT fantastic photo shoot, "Grey's Anatomy" cast led by Ellen Pompeo joined Viola Davis' "How To Get Away With Murder" and Kerry Washington's "Scandal" along with 33 series regulars combined from all three ABC shows.
Entertainment Weekly reported New York City was where the epic gathering of celebrities from Shondaland unfolded. In early May, the cast of "Grey's Anatomy" joined the two other #TGIT line up for a campaign for its Season 12 premiere. Aside from the stars from the other shows, they were also joined by the brains behind Shondaland's success: Shonda Rhimes herself, Betsy Beers, producing partner and Peter Nowalk, "How To Get Away With Murder" showrunner.
The magazine available to fans on Friday, had four varied collector's cover: three of them highlighted each show, while the fourth one featured the three powerful women to which the shows are anchored: Ellen Pompeo, Kerry Washington and Viola Davis — who also granted a candid and revealing interview.
In their official Facebook page, fans of "Grey's Anatomy" flooded the comments section with their reaction to the ultimate #TGIT teaser. To sum up their feelings, it's like Christmas came a little early as their wait for the hit TV medical drama draws near — few more weeks of waiting will finally pay off. Some have even blocked off their Thursday nights so they can concentrate on how will the show turn out without Patrick Dempsey's McDreamy.
Meanwhile, "Grey's Anatomy" actor Kevin McKidd posted two photos of himself with Sarah Drew and one with Caterina Scorsone behind the scenes of the much talked about #TGIT photo shoot on his Twitter account @TheRealKMcKidd.
Also James Pickens Jr. was formally welcomed by "Grey's Anatomy" official Twitter page. The post read: "It's official! The original chief is on Twitter! Please welcome @therealjpickjr #GreysAnatomy.
