Avril Lavigne made an announcement on Instagram that apparently confirmed the circulating rumors — she and husband of two years, Chad Kroeger, are having a divorce. After the singer shared this message on the social media site, fans went on a frenzy.
Speculations that the couple is having a rocky marriage surfaced when many have noticed that both were not wearing their wedding rings. However, it was just recently reported by News Hour that the Canadian French singer ignored this then rumor.
"It is with heavy heart that Chad and I announce our separation today. Through not only the marriage, but the music as well, we've created many unforgettable moments," Lavigne captioned the snap.
She continued saying that they would remain best friends and will always deeply care for each other. She ended the message by thanking her family, friends and fans for their support.
Fans expressed different reactions toward the divorce announcement. Many were saddened, while others were in disbelief.
Laurasimonic, did not seem to take the separation well. "NO NO NO NO NO THIS IS NIGHTMARE. I LOVED YOU TWO TOGETHER AND YOU WERE MY OTP, MY RELATIONSHIP GOALS. My life is over now," the fan wrote.
"I'm really sorry.. You were a perfect couple, musically and sentimentally @avrillavigne," said the saddened alissdream.
Another Insta user, yirunwang, expressed disbelief, commenting, "Oh my gosh. R u serious?"
"Omg come on Avril try and make it work u guys r to pefect ur ment to have kids together and his so sweet like u whats wrong," Remamaddie wrote.
Lavigne, 30, and Kroeger, 40, were friends before they started dating in the middle of 2012, and got engaged in August, a year after, according to Hollywood Life. In July 2013, the couple tied that knot in Canada.
The "Complicated" and the "Photograph" singers are reportedly facing their individual medical predicaments before the divorce.
Lavigne just got back on-stage after undergoing intensive recovery from Lyme, while Kroeger's band, Nickelback, had to withdraw their summer tour plans because the lead underwent a surgery, after a cyst was found in his vocal box, USA Today reported.
