Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales" seems to be confusing a lot of fans after new updates emerge suggesting the upcoming "Pirates" sequel might get into either the retcon (retro-continuity) or reboot mode. Some are also hinting the possibility of Captain Jack Sparrow's immortality while Kaya Scodelario, who plays Carina Smyth in the movie, promises an epic journey comparable to its first installment.

The fifth installment of Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and Will Turner's (Orlando Bloom) saga, "Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales," might get into retcon while there's also the possibility of a reboot. According to Movie News Guide, if the new movie is going to be a reboot, it will pick up where "Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End" left off. And since the film will depict the events that happen two decades after the third film, it will feature Brenton Thwaites as Henry, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann's son, as previously reported.

"Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales," however, can also be a retro-continuity, the events in the previous movies of the series will be depicted with a new spin and explain the ideas proposed in its predecessors. But actress Kaya Scodelario said the upcoming film will be "much more like the first film." She also promised an epic journey, Digital Spy noted.

"It [does have] a lot more of the first movie, that's what they wanted to bring it back to," she said, as per Daily Mirror. "[The producers] want to take it back to the beginning again. They wanted it to have this epic journey, and for it to make sense, and for it to tie things up, and also lead to new storylines."
