Blockbuster director James Wan is finally back with his upcoming horror sequel, "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist." While some have doubted Wan's comeback after his astounding box-office success with "Furious 7," he decided to return for the third installment of "The Conjuring" franchise in 2013.
Unlike the recent spinoff movie, "Annabelle," which explored the back story of "The Conjuring's" creepy doll, "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist" will continue the based-on-truth adventures of Ed and Lorraine Warren.
So, as the filming for "The Conjuring" sequel began, here are 4 hair-raising scoops about James Wan's upcoming horror sequel.
1. "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist" production is officially underway.
To mark the start of filming, "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist" director shared on-the-set photos on several social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. According to Coming Soon, one photo showed a priest blessing the set of the production, while the other one showed the creepy and foggy soundstage.
2. "The Conjuring 2" Cast
Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are returning to the sequel to reprise their roles as the real-life paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, Collider revealed. Screen Rant also added that "A.I.: Artificial Intelligence" star Frances O'Connor and "The Theory of Everything" and "Harry Potter" actor Simon McBurney are also joining the cast as the parents of the girl who is being hunted.
3. "The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist" Script
Based on what Cinema Blend has known about an actual Enfield Poltergeist, which is the reported basis of the movie script, O'Connor's character will be based on Margaret Hodgson. In 1977, she had four children in London and her two daughters were claimed to have been stalked by a ghost. But in the upcoming sequel, only the story of the haunting of the 11-year-old daughter will be depicted. This means that the script might drop some of the extra details.
4. "The Conjuring 2" Release Date
Depicting the tale of the infamous "Enfield Poltergeist," which took place at a council house in Brimsdown village, borough of Enfield, England during the late 1970s, the film is set for a release date on June 10, 2016, as per Bloody Disgusting.
