The 2016 Mini Clubman is finally here, and it is out to conquer the small car market with its generous doors and wipers. Add to this the spacious interior and you get a tiny vehicle for (almost) all sizes of drivers.
With its almost fourteen feet compact body, you wouldn't really believe that Mini's all-new Clubman has enough space for it to be considered a premium family car. Yes, it has room for a family or a friendly group of five.
Compared to the five-door Mini, the 2016 Clubman is 3.54 inches wider and 10.62 inches longer. The increase in size of the vehicle is said to account for the valuable addition of legroom at the rear space and for the cargo space as well, noted Jalopnik.
The design of the new Clubman still keeps the traditional one found in the previous installment, but the makers of the tiny car added extra doors to take advantage of its larger size.
Aside from practicality, the addition of rear doors has also given the 2016 Mini Clubman its own identity, as per Telegraph. After all, having four doors on the sides and two barn-stye doors at the rear is unique to this compact family car.
The lavish and pragmatic design of the new Clubman translates to its interior which is really surprisingly roomy. Headroom is not a problem for people who are a little higher than six feet.
The aesthetics are on point and the standard features inside make the car look and feel abundant. There's a nav screen in the middle and toggle switches in easy-to-access areas of the dash. And though the handbrake is noticeably missing, the 2016 Mini Clubman comes with an e-brake that can even be used during emergency situations through a simple long press of the button.
The 2016 Mini Clubman comes with a six-speed manual and there is also a six-speed automatic for the petrol engine.
According to MotoAuthority, the 2016 Clubman is retailing in the market for $24,950. As for its US release date, product manager Daniel Schmidt says the US market can expect the new compact vehicle on Jan. 23, 2017.
