HTC One A9 and iPhone 6 are being closely compared by many online reviews. Some tech critics say that HTC's newest flagship, which looks a lot like Apple's smartphone, brings iPhone 6 qualities into Android's world.
Do they really look alike?
It seems they do, at least physically. But what about the specs, features and price?
Let's compare HTC One A9 and iPhone 6, and we'll let you decide which smartphone suits your needs better.
HTC One A9 features a 5-inch AMOLED display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. Meanwhile, the iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch LED-backlit IPS LCD screen, protected by an ion-strengthened glass, oleophobic coating with a 750 x 1334 resolution.
The 143-gram HTC One A9 has a physical dimension of 145.8 x 70.8 x 7.3 mm, while the 129-gram iPhone 6 has 138.1 x 67 x 6.9 mm. Both devices support nano sim and fingerprint sensor.
Apple's smartphone houses an A8 chipset with a dual-core 1.4 GHz Typhoon (ARM v8-based) processor and a PowerVR GX6450 GPU. Under the hood of HTC One A9, you will find a Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617, an octa-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU and an Adreno 405 GPU, according to GSM Arena.
One advantage of HTC One A9 — running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow — from iPhone 6 — running on iOS 8, upgradable to iOS 9.0.2 — is the card slot. HTC's device has a microSD external card slot that can support up to 200GB of added memory.
iPhone 6's has 16GB, 64GB and 128GB variants, all with 1 GB RAM DDR3. Meanwhile, HTC One A9 only has two variants at 16GB, with 2 GB RAM, and 32GB with 3GB RAM.
The primary and secondary camera of HTC One A9 are 13MP and 4MP, respectively. Verizon Wireless' site reports that iPhone 6's rear camera is at 8MP and front-facing camera is at 1.2MP.
HTC one sports a Li-Ion 2150 mAh battery, while Apple has Li-Po 1810 mAh, both are non-removable. iPhone 6's Apple Pay is an advantage for some, and it is yet to be known if HTC One A9 will support mobile payment.
The contract-free iPhone 6 can be reportedly purchased starting at $649. The sim-unlocked HTC One A9 starts at $399.99 in the United States, but The Verge learned that it may cost £429.99 or $665 in the United Kingdom.
It wasn't clear if HTC planned for A9 to be an iPhone 6 clone, but what was clear though was the company's goal for their newest smartphone. Jason Mackenzie, President of HTC Americas, said that they saw the comparison as an opportunity, and that it was intended to appeal to Apple users, USA Today reported.
