Great Scott! Toyota just unveiled its "Back To The Future" pickup truck and it's absolutely awesome.
The DeLorean may be the movie's iconic car but Marty McFly actually has a different vehicle that he wants for himself — the 1985 Toyota pickup that he drove at the end of the movie.
As reported by Digital Trends, with "Back To The Future Day" celebrations in full swing, the Japanese automobile maker could not resist making us remember of its cameo in the famous franchise.
Toyota is certainly doing a lot to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the movie by recreating Marty's dream truck; however, this time, the truck is now in the form of a 2016 Toyota Tacoma.
The revamped mid-sized truck goes retro to represent the state of automotive styling in 1985. It features a similar 1985 Toyota Truck paint color to that of the movie version, the same mud flaps and even has backdated headlights and taillights. Furthermore, the word "TOYOTA" is also spelled out on the tailgate and there are "D-4S" badges which stand for fuel injection, just like in the '80s.
But this Toyota Tacoma isn't just for novelty, since the "Back To The Future" truck was not stock, this particular pickup isn't either because it sports an off-road suspension and a Toyota Racing Development wheels in addition to retro off-road accessories.
According to the New York Daily News, Toyota's East Coast communications manager, Corey Proffitt, spoke about the vehicle and said, "The suspension has been beefed up and the truck rides on a special set of Toyota Racing Development [TRD] wheels and tires,"
Proffitt also said, "It has some great little nods to the history of the 1985 version. We think Marty McFly would love it."
In a similar report by Auto Blog, the Toyota "Back To The Future" pickup also has classic BF Goodrich tires and a pair of KC HiLite driving lamps. But it's also interesting to note that the original Toyota featured in the movie uses Goodyear instead of BF tires.
It's been a very good week for fans of the franchise because a lot of memorabilia are appearing left and right. But sadly, this truck isn't that widespread because it was reported that Toyota has built only three models.
But everything about the truck is a classic, even the front and rear bumpers which are of the tubular variant. This is the truck that fans of the movie have been waiting for. The kind of vehicle that both movie buffs and car lovers will like.
