Michael Schumacher is currently making progress in his rehabilitation, but reports about his condition remained elusive. However in a recent interview, former Ferrari President Luca Cordero di Montezemolo recently described Schumacher's fight for life as "terrible," sparking doubts on the current health condition of the former Formula One superstar.
Famously known as the seven-time F1 world champion, Michael Schumacher is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program at the comforts of his home in Geneva, Switzerland. He's in recovery after waking up from a medically induced coma last June due to the serious head injuries he sustained during an unfortunate skiing accident at the French Alpine resort of Meribel in December 2013. He is reportedly under the extensive care of 15 medical experts 24/7 in his home, where a state-of-the-art medical suite was custom-built.
In a recent interview, however, former Ferrari president and Italian businessman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo said Michael Schumacher's fight for life is "terrible." He also added that it pains him to see the German racing legend struggling to surpass the challenges as he is on the road to recovery, International Business Times noted.
"Michael was fundamental for Ferrari, for me, for our lives," di Montezemolo told German news outlet RTL. "He is an extraordinary person, a person who has always worked for the team, a person who has been found, especially in the difficult moments as an absolute team player. He is the driver in the history of Ferrari, who has won more than any other so much."
"He simply represents something unique," he added. "To see him in this situation is terrible. It's a situation in which you don't know what you should do. So I try to recall so many great moments again in life, which we have celebrated together. I always think of him as an exceptional pilot, man and friend. I must also admit that I have the courage and strength of the family, of Corinna and the children, admire how they help Michael. From the bottom of my heart, I hope ever to hear good news soon."
Meanwhile, Federation Internationale de I'Automobile President Jean Todt has revealed during a recent media appearance that Michael Schumacher is fighting for his recovery.
"I see Michael very often, and Michael is still fighting, and we must keep fighting with the family," Todt said, as per AutoSport.
"It was interesting last week after Lewis [Hamilton] won the title for third time," he added. "You saw the figures [referring to Schumacher's seven championships]. I was very proud of what Michael achieved. Sometimes you tend to forget what he did. Michael is a close friend, his family is very close to me, and I'm very close to them as well."
While fans and friends hope for more updates about Michael Schumacher's current health condition, his family has been keeping all the details and information private. Thus, reports remain elusive.
