[SNEAK PEEK] Adidas D Lillard 2 Seen On The Hardwood; Is Successor To D Lillard 1 Better?

Damian Lillard is Adidas' new poster boy because the young Portland Trail Blazer just debuted his second signature sneaker during his last game.

As reported by Oregon Live, before the tip off of the Trail Blazers game against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday, Lillard unveiled the D Lillard 2 during the pregame warm-ups, giving fans and the media in attendance a sneak peek at his newest shoe.

Just last year, Kicks on Fire noted that Damian Lillard showed off his first signature shoe for the first time on Instagram, but this time, the young guard opted to take it for a stroll -- in the hardwood court no less.

If you're not a fan of the Adidas D Lillard 1, you'll be glad to know that the successor of the shoe changed up in a lot of ways. As noted, the move from a low-cut to a mid-cut is always welcome, making it really have the appearance of a premium performance basketball shoe.

The D Lillard 1, although great looking on its own right, feels like more of a casual sneaker rather than a performance one.

In addition, there appear to be various materials used on the upper of the shoe, with a breathable medial panel that may or may not be the brand's signature "Primeknit" and a nubuck or suede overlay.

The heel counter of the D Lillard 2 will now both feature the great "D Lillard" logo, a great change from last year when one shoe had a giant adidas logo that looked rather out of place.

But the three stripes is still present and complete as they show up on the tongue in a design move that looks very similar to the adidas Crazylight Boost 2015.

However, the particular version unveiled by Damian Lillard does not have Boost technology, opting instead for a chunkier look with a white and gum finish. But in earlier leaks regarding the design of the D Lillard 2, it came both in Boost and non-Boost variants so it's safe to say that the upcoming colorways can expect this tech.

According to Sneaker News, Lillard may now be the main man for adidas, due to the fact that previous stars like Dwight Howard leaving the brand for Peak and John Wall rumored to be leaving for Reebok.

And although Derrick Rose is still in the company, his many injuries does not help the marketability of his signature so it's up to Lillard to carry the three stripes brand.
