Huawei unveiled the Mate 8 last month and we said that it will serve as the company's flagship smartphone.
Earlier, it was reported that the phone would not arrive until the first quarter of 2016, but now, a new report from GSM Arena said that the flagship device by the Chinese tech giant will be releasing this week.
As reported, the Huawei Mate 8 will go on sale starting Wednesday, Dec. 9 in China.
Yes, for those of you anticipating the phone's release in the U.S., you have to wait a little longer because the Mate 8's international availability details will not be announced until the 2016 CES.
Technology News Extra reported that the device will cost about 2,999 Chinese Yuan or roughly $470 off contract for the 32GB model. As for the 64GB model, it will cost about $580 while the 128GB and the exclusive Champagne edition will cost $690 and $1075 respectively.
Huawei's phone is as premium as it gets because of the materials used on its construction. Made out of aerospace-grade aluminium and a unique 2.5D curved diamond cut glass, it's not surprising why the phone is a bit pricey.
The Huawei phone is a thing of beauty, but it's not all looks. The Mate 8 is a 6-inch Full HD display phablet that is powered by the company's latest Kirin 950 SoC octa-core processor and a Mali T880MP4 graphics processor.
Also, there's the i5 sub-processor that is used by the Mate 8 for constant awareness of sensors and also offloads tasks such as music playback firewalls, voice controls and other display-off activities.
It's noted that the i5 consume orders of magnitudes less power than the Kirin 940 processor, thereby improving the phone's battery life.
It packs a large 4,000 mAh battery, which can power the device running for a long time despite the huge screen and fast CPU.
On the device's rear, it sports a fingerprint reader and a capable 16-megapixel rear camera. As for the front, taking selfies won't be a problem as the front camera features 8 megapixels.
The handset will be powered by the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Huawei EMUI 4.0 overlay and has different models that offer 3 or 4GB of RAM.
iDigital Times noted that the device sports dimensions of 57.1mm x 80.6mm x 7.9mm and weighs 185g. Users have choices of Champagne Gold, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray and Mocha Brown as color options.
