The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 may be a bit "old" for a smartphone, but it can still perform well compared to its contemporary rivals.
And to continue keeping up with the times, it's reported to be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. But despite Samsung not officially announcing it, PH Android reported that a video turned up and showed that the Note 4 will receive the new Android update.
The International Business Times reported that Samsung released the "Marshmallow" update for users of unlocked edition of the device, but only in Hungary.
Since then, Google has rolled out the Android 6.0.1 update for its Nexus devices and rumors are rife that the Note 5 users may receive the update before the end of this year.
To make things clear, if your Galaxy Note 4 has a model number SM-N910F, you will also receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
A few weeks ago, an unofficial Samsung document that contains the information on the OS update for Galaxy smartphones and tablets had surfaced.
It said there that the Note 4 would be receiving the new OS in Feb. of 2016 and the update was expected to arrive first for the Note 5 users this December.
However, reports said that the company has all of a sudden released the update for Note 4 users without any prior notice.
Moreover, Google has now released factory images of the 6.0.1 Marshmallow update for its Nexus devices, which include over 200 emojis.
Apart from that, other Samsung Galaxy devices such as the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ are all scheduled to get updated to the new operating system in January of 2016.
And as of now, only unlocked units of the Note 4 with model number SM-N910F will receive the new update. For carrier variants of the phablet, users will receive it much later.
The new update contains a new feature called "Doze" that enhances battery life and also an upgraded Air Command menu with some new feature of adding notes by scribbling on the display with the S-Pen stylus.
Apart from that, Android Pit reported that the update will also contain a number of minor aesthetic differences such as the icon layout. Furthermore, Samsung seems to have added the Off Screen Memo feature, which allows you to take notes even when the screen is off.
Still, the software's current state appears to be suffering from some minor performance issues and bugs, but we're sure that when the final version of the "Marshmallow" arrives, your Galaxy Note 4 will run smoothly.
For now, check out the leaked video below to see how the update works.
