Moto X Pure Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update: Motorola Releases Software Update Following Galaxy Note 4 Marshmallow Update Leak

Great news to Moto X Pure owners from America, your beloved smartphone is about to receive the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

According to 9to5Google, David Schuster announced on his Google+ account yesterday that the full software for the said devices has begun rolling out.

The news comes just a few days after the soak tests started for Moto X users and continues Motorola's tradition of keeping its almost-stock Android phones up to date. Just like last year, with Moto having an almost stock version of Android on board, only means that the company can get new software out to its customers sooner than most competition.

Apart from the accidental Note 4 update and a spotty LG G4 software release in Poland, only Motorola has started the Marshmallow roll out.

Moreover, David Schuster also said that the soak tests are beginning for the Moto X Play in Brazil and India, in addition to the Moto X Force in Brazil that suggests full software roll outs could begin for those devices within the next couple of weeks.

GottaBeMobile reported that for U.S. owners, Moto X Pure used on Verizon, Sprint or US Cellular can now download the update, which will bring a lot of changes, software-wise.

It was initially reported that many users were frustrated at the Moto X, as it was sold as an unlocked phone with the promise of timely updates, without the carriers getting in the way. But then yesterday an update only went to select carriers, but not all Moto X owners.

However, as of this morning, Motorola announced that AT&T users would receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow as well, but it is noted that this is a slow roll out so some users may receive it today, while others could get it within the next few days.

With that news, it just leaves T-Mobile as the sole carrier that has yet to receive news regarding the new OS. Last year, the company did not release a T-Mobile version of the phone, but the unlocked model worked on T-Mobile and it also worked this year.

Apart from that, all Moto X Pure devices are seeing an update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow as of yesterday and today, but if you're using a T-Mobile SIM, the update may not reach you just yet.

Techno Buffalo reported that Motorola also released a full list of devices that will get the OS update, although it was noted that it could take a while for the company to make its way through the entire lineup.
