The OnePlus 2 is barely out, but its successor, the OnePlus 3, is already turning up the rumor mill.
As reported by GSM Arena, a render of the alleged smartphone has been leaked, which revealed key design changes.
Although the images are in low resolution, it seems to show a brushed metal back instead of the signature sandstone-like panels of previous OnePlus models.
The OnePlus 3 also seems to have abandoned a dedicated fingerprint reader on the front, maybe to give room for other means of unlocking the device such as iris scanning. The chin of the said device will hold a front firing speaker, which may work in concert with the earpiece to deliver stereo output like HTC models have been doing so for years.
Moreover, the images show two different color versions, but the mirror-like facade of one of the device does not look likely to be featured when the official release comes.
In a similar report by Digital Trends, the rumored upcoming smartphone features an unusual grey sections along the sides that may be related to SIM or microSD card slots or maybe even the volume rocker.
The design of the OnePlus 3 appears to be a combination of the design features of both the OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X, with the squared off sides and gently curved corners from the X, with the central camera lens from the OnePlus 2 catching the eye.
But as of now, the reports cautioned that these images are a little more than fakes and should not be considered as the final design.
For the specs, PH Android reported that the upcoming device will feature the ultra-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, while also featuring a screen with 1080p resolution.
Over the years, OnePlus have perfectly combined power performance with stunning design and it looks like the trend is continuing with the OnePlus 3.
However, with the OnePlus 2's release in August of this year, don't expect to see this handset until August of 2016.
But for those of you want to sink your teeth on a powerful OnePlus phone now, we suggest that you should check out the OnePlus X.
Featuring an elegant black glass back plate, metal bezels and combined with a fullHD AMOLED display, the phone can satisfy those looking for an elegant device, yet also performs well.
The X features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with the option to expand up to 128GB via microSD card.
But if those specs seem underwhelming to you, then prepare to wait for a year until the official OnePlus 3 comes along.
