The HTC O2 is dead because, apparently, the company is developing a new flagship phone in the form of HTC Perfume.
As reported by The Telegraph Standard, the phone, widely referred by tech news sites as the "HTC One M10," is the rumored new flagship device of the Taiwanese tech giant.
Reports from overseas are jumping to speculations after receiving some leaked information from a reliable source. But be that as it may, reports cautioned to still take these rumors with a pinch of salt as these are all unofficial as of the moment.
Having said that, the upcoming HTC Perfume is rumored to run on an operating system of Android 6.0 Marshmallow with an HTC Sense user interface skin on top.
In addition, rumors said that the upcoming handset from HTC might become available by March or April, after the launch of the One X9.
A popular leaker of HTC deals LlabTooFeR said in a tweet the HTC O2, the previously known flagship device of the company, is now "dead" and that it's now focusing on something new. It's also likely that HTC will continue to use metal frames for its devices, which will include the Perfume.
In a similar report by The Examiner Press, a similar phone called the One A9 will sport a 5-inch full-HD display and will be encased in a Corning Gorilla Glass 4.
Moreover, it's set to feature about 4GB of RAM, 64 to 128GB of internal storage, a 20.7-megapixel rear camera and a 3,500 mAh battery.
However, reports noted that that the phone could be actually quite powerful than what the current Android market offers right now.
But since the M10 or the Perfume is not yet here, fans looking for a powerful HTC phone can sink their teeth on the One M9.
According to Android Headlines, Canadian users of the phone is about to get the Android Marshmallow early next year. Vice President of Product Management Mo Versi responded in a query aimed at him on Twitter and revealed that Canada will get the latest OS update next year.
Meanwhile, U.S. users are scheduled to get the update this month alongside the other premium smartphones released by the company.
The update for the One M9 will feature updates like a new app permissions manager, native support for the fingerprint scanner and the Google Now on Tap. In addition, the latest version of Android also includes native support for 4K display resolution.
