Celine Dion's husband, Rene Angelil, might be spending his last Christmas with his family and his French-Canadian diva wife is trying to make the most of whatever time she and their children have left with Angelil, who has been battling with throat cancer since 1998. This year, Dion broke her silence and revealed that her husband's cancer is terminal and the family would be spending as much time together as possible.
Despite staying away from her Las Vegas shows to spend as much time with her dying husband, Celine Dion returned to the spotlight in the summer of 2015, as per Rene Angelil's request. According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the "Because You Loved Me" songstress made sold out shows comeback at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in late August, outshining the shows of Britney Spears. Currently, she is the taking the rest of the month off to spend time with Angelil and their family. But her Las Vegas shows have a run until 2019.
"This is very likely the last Christmas they'll celebrate with Rene," a source said. "Céline is trying to make the most of whatever time they have left with Rene."
As Celine Dion's husband's final moments looms, the 47-year-old "Power of Love" hitmaker has been delivering powerful performances. In fact, she recently stole the show during Michael Buble's "Christmas in Hollywood" special on Thursday night. Dion, who looked stunning in her white gown, performed a very poignant rendition of traditional Christmas songs "O Holy Night" and "Happy Xmas (War is Over), making her audience cry, Daily Mail noted.
While all her performances have been exquisitely powerful, Celine Dion was all the more emotional since she is preparing for her last Christmas with 73-year-old husband Rene Angelil. But in spite of what she's been going through in her personal life, Dion put on a brave face for her children: 14-year-old Rene Charles, five-year-old twins, Nelson and Eddy.
"Céline is hopeful by nature," an insider said. "She puts her trust in her faith."
Aside from her incredibly outstanding performances during Michael Buble's show, Celine Dion also recently made headlines for her heartbreaking rendition of Edith Piaf's "Hymm a L'Amour" during the AMA Awards on Nov. 22. Her performance, which captivated and reduced the audience to tears, was a tribute to the victims of the Paris terrorist attacks on Nov. 13, Hollywood Life reported.
Even though Christmas is the most joyous time of the year for most people, it might prove to be a difficult time for singer Celine Dion as she assumes that this might be the last Christmas she will get to spend with her cancer-stricken husband, René Angélil.
