If you're anticipating the release of the LG G Flex 3, we got bad news for you because there are reports saying that the Korean tech company is ditching the upcoming smartphone.
As reported by Phone Arena, LG has decided that it will not unveil a successor to the G Flex 2 during the CES 2016, which is about to happen in three weeks. There are speculations that the phone may be announce at a later date or it may not be announced at all.
The source however did not mention if the entire G Flex lineup of curved devices has been scrapped altogether.
But if you're really a fan of LG smartphones, you don't have to fret because according GSM Arena, the LG V10 will be the one to be unveiled at the event, along with the LG G5.
It's a shame though that the LG G Flex 3 is ditched as previous rumors even revealed some of its speculated specs like having a Snapdragon 820 chipset, a 6-inch QHD touchscreen, which will be encased in a metal casing.
But Neowin suggests that although the phone is abandoned for now, it won't be for good, it's just that the 2016 unveiling is impossible as of the moment.
But for now, sink your teeth in the LG G5 that is reported to feature a 5.6-inch display, with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It packs quite a punch too as it will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC, which is claimed by sources to offer significant performance and battery life improvements over the Snapdragon 810.
Furthermore, it will have a metal unibody design, which could potentially upset users that likes to have a removable battery and expandable storage.
Also, the upcoming LG flagship handset is speculated to feature an iris scanner -- a security feature that has become increasingly the norm on smartphones.
The rumored iris scanner will be developed by IRIENCE, a Korean-based firm that specializes in biometrics. According to reports, the tech firm has developed a hardware module for iris recognition technology that will be equipped to the LG G5 and is currently upgrading its algorithm process.
The upgrade includes increasing the recognition range from around 30 cm to 50 cm. The company said it would take two or three months to finish the upgrade.
This comes as a good news for LG as it obviously have fallen behind with regards to sales compared to its other Android competitors like HTC, Samsung and Sony.
But with these interesting features for their upcoming phones, we hope that LG finally comes around.
