Hyatt Hotel Visitors Panic as Malware Attacks Payment Systems

The payment systems in Hyatt Hotels have been breached these holidays causing panic on its operations team. The company was able to inform visitors about this incident and is still currently investigating the source of this dreadfull scheme.

The Hyatt Hotel group went forward saying that it had found malware on the payment processing computers for the hotels it managed and because of this; some guests who have paid reservations for stay are missing records of their transactions with the company.

The president of Hyatt's operations Chuck Floyd said that the problem had been fixed, but also advised customer who have stayed in the hotel during these times, to check missing records of their personal transactions with the company.

Chuck Floyd added during a press conference, "As soon as we discovered the activity, we launched an investigation,"

The Hyatt group, whose headquarters are in Chicago, has 627 properties in its collection. But out of these 627 properties, only 318 have been affected by the malware incident while franchised hotels were unaffected nation wide.

The company did not disclose to the public if there were any guest or visitors affected during this outbreak. Concerns about confidential information of visitors are a priority said the company and they have hired independent cyber security experts to help with the investigation. Hyatt has also set up a webpage to communicate updates to customer who have shown great concern about this ordeal.

In a later conference, Chuck Floyd said that "We have taken steps to strengthen the security of our systems, and customers can feel confident using payment cards at Hyatt hotels worldwide."

The Hyatt Hotel Group is not the first to come forward about problems with cyber security breach. We have solid lists of hotels in the past year that were also faced to tackle challenges with malware and other forms of hacking.

The Hilton, Mandarin Oriental, Starwood and Trump Collection hotel groups have also encountered a security breach with customer payment information this 2015.
