The biggest department store chain in Britain, John Lewis stated on Saturday that it had seen a growth of 10.7% on clearance online orders for the Christmas Holidays. A rise in 11% in traffic to its website was also observed during this season.
The company is the only major retailer in Britain to publish weekly sales data, providing an updated snapshot of shopping trends. The most sought out gifts was mostly regarding technological advancement in entertainment and gadgets.
Outperforming rivals for the last six years with the aid of a strong online offering, the company sets to hold on to its successful sales further on the first year of 2016. Although a forecast done by the company states that sales might plummet on the first month of this year, in January.
