Twitter has been stirring the pot lately after news of its top managers departing the company, the popular social media platform has been struggling to increase growth through its user base. With the help of Periscope maximizing the video interface for the platform, GoPro now plans to turns Twitter's head to extreme videos.
Just months after its launch, the popular live-streaming video app Periscope has partnered with GoPro. Periscope users with a GoPro Hero4 Camera can stream their high speed, extreme sports, outdoor and indoor adventures live.
This new partnership not only encourages Periscope users to feed their videos to the world, it also enables iPhone users to toggle between their mobile phone camera and GoPro in a single tap.
The tie-in also allows Twitter users to view the live-stream videos from periscope directly on their main Twitter feeds. Ultimately, it means, users can use Twitter to access videos - view their friends' videos - as well as uploading their own through Periscope. This may become an exponential growth for the business as viewers wouldn't need to leave Twitter.
Twitter now offers users an opportunity to view more than just words and pictures to tell their personal stories. Now, it gives live unfiltered video streams from all angles.
This partnership is two-fold. It hopefully retains Twitter users and encourages GoPro users to look to Twitter for their adrenaline viewing pleasure, and second it enables Periscope users to use other means to take their videos online - hence, GoPro.
Currently, Twitter has over 320 million monthly active users. This also means that GoPro can increase its sales growth when consumers realize that they now have the access to stream their sky-jumps directly to the platform.
For now, the GoPro integration is only available in the iOS platform. There is no news that the same is being done for Android as of yet.
