If you're a huge Harry Potter fan, then you might as well be feeling your fellow Potterheads' pain when it comes to the erratic updates about the franchise. But now, this one is not a drill anymore.
"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," the eighth book in the HP canon, picks up the story of the trio where the epilogue left off, according to the official website Pottermore. Here are 5 things that every witches and wizards, even the muggles, should expect from the new book:
1. The book will be released in two versions. One is a Special Rehearsal Edition, which uses the script performed in the play's previews while the other one is the Definitive Collector's Edition. This book is the fans' ticket to the plays that they couldn't attend.
2. Digital editions of the "Cursed Child" will be published simultaneously with printed copies, which only mean more energy for speculation and anticipation.
3. The book will be released on Jul. 31, 2016, which is Harry's birthday, according to U.K. Publisher Little Brown.
4. Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, this new book is the first official "Harry Potter" story to be presented on stage. The world premiere will happen on Jul. 30, 2016 in London's West End.
5. The book that will bring the epic story that most fans have been craving for a long time in full circle. Picking up from where it left off, it will follow the life of the Potters, with Harry as an overworked Ministry of Magic employee with three school-age children.
The official synopsis released in 2015 read: "While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: Sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."
