When news broke out that George R. R. Martin won't be able to make his "Winds of Winter" release date, it crushed "Game of Thrones" fans everywhere. However, GRRM promised he won't write anything until he finishes "WoW".
George R. R. Martin himself expressed that he was disappointed that he was not able to make the deadline but he made it clear to his fans on his recent blog post that he is not writing any other materials until "Winds of Winter" is ready to hit the hot press.
Even though the author is not able to make the "Winds of Winter" release date, fans would just have to keep waiting for it to arrive. GRRM did state in his online posts that it was not easy to make the material and he wanted to be sure that the content is connected with all that is going on in the series. True to his word, he is currently working on the book right now and he expressed that he won't be writing anything including short stories, introductions, screen plays, teleplays or anything else. The only thing he has committed to is "Wild Cards."
GRRM promised to not write anything else but "Winds of Winter" also means that he's not going to be writing any "Game of Thrones" episodes any time soon, and he is not traveling anywhere to sign books either. GRRM would rather much focus on his book, online reports indicated.
Basically, George R. R. Martin is making sure his schedule is clear in order to finish the "Winds of Winter".
Sadly, the book still will not make it to the "Game of Thrones" season 6 premiere on Apr. 24, 2016, but GRRM is making an effort to get it out as soon as possible. Fans hope he will be able to publish it this year.
