"Scandal" star Kerry Washington has recently found herself in a middle of divorce rumors. But instead of setting the record straight about her marriage, the 39-year-old actress chose not to disclose any information regarding her personal life.
Kerry Washington and her NFL star husband Nnamdi Asomugha have been plagued with divorce speculations for months. But the "Scandal" star has been mum about her personal life, particularly when it comes to marital issues.
Washington, however, broke her silence during a panel discussion at the South By Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas. According to International Business Times, Washington stressed that not divulging anything about her personal life does not necessarily mean that her marriage was in trouble.
"If I don't talk about my personal life, it means I don't talk about my personal life," the "Scandal" star explained. "That means not only did I not tell you when I was getting married, it also means if somebody has rumors about what's going on in my marriage, I don't refute them, because I don't talk about my personal life."
"Scandal" star Kerry Washington, who has often been the target of divorce rumors, also explained that while social media have been helpful to other celebrities who wish to speak their thoughts out, she still chose not to disclose anything at all.
"I think - and this is something Reese Witherspoon has talked about a lot - it's a little different for me because I don't talk about my personal life," she said, as per E! News. "Social media has actually been great for [other celebrities'] relationships with the weeklies or the gossip sites because people say things and they say, "That's not true! Just so you know, that's BS! I say 'BS' because it's Sunday. So I'm thinking in some ways, it's been great because people are able to maintain their voice."
Aside from choosing not to address the incessant divorce rumors, "Scandal" star Kerry Washington also admitted that she's adamant to keep her one-year-old daughter Isabelle's life as private as possible, Daily Mail noted.
So, why do you think "Scandal" star Kerry Washington prefers that the media will leave her personal life alone? Well, she candidly admitted to Glamour magazine in 2013 that based on experience, talking about her personal life simply doesn't work for her.
