More than two years after the unfortunate skiing accident at the French Alps in December 2013, Michael Schumacher's health condition remains uncertain. As a matter of fact, reports and updates have been scarce.
Many Michael Schumacher's fans are patiently waiting and continuously hoping for some updates regarding the F1 superstar's health condition. Unfortunately, fans still have little information on their idol's health due to the ongoing media blackout requested by Schumacher's family.
Mercedes Chairman Niki Lauda, however, recently said that he believed Schumacher's fans deserve to know the truth regarding the seven-time F1 champion's true state. And while he completely understood the family's protectiveness, the 67-year-old former F1 legend stressed that divulging vital information on Schumi's recovery could give fans some hope and avoid false media reports, Ecumenical Times reported.
"The family protects him and I understand that completely," Lauda said, as per Daily Express. "But it means that all those who would like to know something, do not. I often think of him, but unfortunately I have no contact. We all just hope, hope, hope."
Lauda added that lack of transparency on Michael Schumacher's health condition will not be good as it often led to "wild speculations." He also stressed that a "middle ground" is needed to be able to disseminate information and updates to avid fans and supporters of the stricken German racer.
Following the skiing accident at the French Alpine resort of Meribel in December 2013, Michael Schumacher's family has kept details of his health condition in close wraps. Fortunately, Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm recently revealed that the family remains hopeful that one day he make a comeback in the racing realm.
"We know what has happened and cannot change it," Kehm said. "We must accept it and hope with everything we have that with continued support and patience he will one day be back with us. Racing was his life and no one would have liked to have been here more than him."
Meanwhile, Michael Schumacher is currently undergoing an extensive rehabilitation program at a highly-secured and state-of-the-art customized suite at his home in Geneva, Switzerland. As previously reported, his condition is closely monitored by a team of 15 medical experts 24/7.
