After months of being in the dark, fans now have something concrete to hold on to when it comes to the highly anticipated "Frozen 2." Just recently, Kristen Bell- the voice behind Anna- dropped some major details about the sequel's production and filming.
"Not yet. We're just about to," the actress told Collider when asked whether the cast have begun recording. "They've just written it and they're still doing tweaks, but I think we should be recording this month."
"The story is great, and they exude quality. What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn't just put something out to put it out. That's why it took them so long to even announce that we were doing a second one," she continued.
"Generally when you have a first successful movie you want to make a second one. It took them a while because they wanted to figure out what story they needed to tell and what would be important and engaging and I think they found it."
While there has been no official release date confirmation as of writing, The Independent speculated that with the film's production pace, it would seem that a December 2017 premiere could be underway. However, with a "Frozen" Holiday Special slated on the same date, the outlet noted that Disney might decide to push "Frozen 2's" release to 2018.
Meanwhile, several reports have already suggested that a crossover between other Disney movies could be explored in the sequel. However, as good as it sounds, directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee have acknowledged the idea but have played around with it as a joke more than a possibility.
"Of course Anna and Elsa's parents didn't die," Buck said, according to Vine Report. "Yes, there was a shipwreck, but they were at seas a little bit longer that we think they were because the mother was pregnant, and she gave birth on the boat, to a little boy."
"They get shipwrecked, and somehow they were really washed far away from the Scandinavian waters, and they end up in the jungle," he added. "They end up building a treehouse and a leopard kills them, so their baby boy is raised by gorillas."
