Though nothing should come as a surprise in the ongoing saga that is Lindsay Lohan's life, even this one seems a little hard to believe. Lohan has agreed to a court-ordered stint in rehab only if she is allowed to take the ADHD medication Adderall.
The rehab order comes as part of a plea deal in a June 2012 case where she smashed her Porsche into a dump truck, and subsequently lied to police about the nature of the accident. That incident became a violation of probation.Lohan has been repeatedly caught on drugs, and has admitted her use of them openly in court in the past. She seems to favor prescription pills, including antidepressants, painkillers, and amphetamines.
"The meds that they give her are meds that they say she needs, but she doesn't need them," her father Michael has said. "They kind of make her flat. She's not acting at a full potential. It's like the screen is down over her."
In her latest case, Lohan has been ordered by the judge to attend a "lock down" rehab facility to fulfill the terms of her plea bargain. She has agreed to the terms on the condition that she must be allowed to take Adderall, or else she would take her chances at trial.
Lohan has been prescribed Adderall by doctors in the past, and normally this wouldn't be a big deal. However, Adderall is a notoriously easy drug to attain a prescription for, and with Lohan's history of drug abuse, it seems much more likely that she is simply looking for a way to have some drug while she is in treatment.
Lohan's lawyer, Mark Heller, has assured her that he can find a lock down rehab facility that will allow her to take the medication. A lock down facility is any one that cannot be left once entered, until the prescribed duration is completed.
Though it is not yet decided whether the prosecution will accept Lohan's terms, she is certainly not too concerned about it. This past month she has been partying up a storm all over Los Angeles and was recently seen in nightclub in Sao Paulo, Brazil as part of a promotional event.
