Good news for students of the arts.
If you're looking to get experience in your related field and get paid while you do it, this could be your opportunity.
Paid internships at the Armory Center for the Arts in communications, exhibitions or studios are accepting applications.
The Getty Foundation has provided a grant to the center as part of its Multicultural Undergraduate Internship program, as reported by PasadenaNow.
To find out if you're eligible, students in the communications and exhibitions department must be currently enrolled and have completed at least one semester of college by June 2016. Students should be local residents or are currently attending college in the Los Angeles County.
It's also critical to note that these internships are intended for members of groups underrepresented in professions related to museums and the visual arts, including, but not limited to, individuals of African American, Asian, Latino or Hispanic, Native American, and Pacific Islander descent.
Each internship focuses on the different areas of the arts. Their job responsibilities, duties, guidance and programmes vary. For example, the communications intern' responsibilities include assisting with day-to-day media production and PR tasks under the guidance of the Communications Director. The ideal communications intern is one whose focus is graphic and media design. The exhibitions intern on the other hand will participate in the planning and implementation of contemporary art exhibitions in the Armory's Caldwell and Mezzanine galleries as well as in locations in the community. The internship will also provide an opportunity to receive training from the Armory's exhibition program staff. Hands on experience will be offered. Meanwhile, the ideal candidates for a studio Internship are those studying the fine arts, early childhood education, or a related field.
The advantages of each internship programme vary as well. If you think you qualify, visit the Armory Center for the Arts official website for more details.
