PayPal's recent actions have been scrutinized by some people, and with its pullout in Charlotte, North Caroline, many anticipated jobs were ended. Also, with that in mind, many speculations of PayPal's downfall is North Carolina as unstoppable are escalating.
In a former report from Church Militant, "California-based Corporation PayPal is now changing its plans on building a $3.6 million global operations center in North Carolina, costing the state about 400 new jobs." It goes without saying that the move initiated by PayPal has not only affected one or two jobs or a hundred because it has affected the possibility of providing 400 new jobs to the region.
Given the circumstances, the rebuttal of North Carolina is acceptable since the locals have been expecting the jobs to arrive. Nevertheless, nothing can be said or done since Paypal has finally decided to pull out their resources in the region.
To prove the latter, PayPal CEO, Dan Schulman, issued a statement stating, "HB2 perpetuates discrimination and it violates the values and principles that are at the core of PayPal's mission and culture. This decision reflects PayPal's deepest values and our strong belief that every person has the right to be treated equally, and with dignity and respect. These principles of fairness, inclusion and equality are at the heart of everything we seek to achieve and stand for as a company. And they compel us to take action to oppose discrimination."
However, Lieutenant Governor Dan Forest also rebutted PayPal's statement by saying, "If our action in keeping men out of women's bathrooms and showers protected the life of just one child or one woman from being molested or assaulted, then it was worth it. North Carolina will never put a price tag on the value of our children. They are precious and priceless. If a corporation wanting to do business in North Carolina does not see the worth of our children in the sam [sic] light, then I wish them well as they do business somewhere else."
A former report from Jobs & Hire has mentioned that Paypal initially chose North Carolina for the expansion of their operations but that dream is now a mere idea of the past. As of the moment, the battle continues to rage on but one thing is certain for the firm, it would not venture into the region of North Carolina anymore.
As for PayPal's presence in North Carolina, the speculation of an unstoppable downfall continue to pour on the region.
