Apple is officially hiring retail and customer-facing workers for its first new store in Brooklyn. The company's decision to put up a store in one of New York City's most populous borough suggests that Apple will have a successful launch before the end of 2016.
To date, Apple has opened 478 retail stores across 17 countries, including 268 in the United States and 210 elsewhere, since May 2001.
A lease has already been signed for a location in 247 Bedford Avenue, at the corner of North 3rd Street, and renovations have been slowly building up since 2015. It was not clear on who signed the lease as Apple was not able to comment on the news roll-out but it is expected that promotional posters will be put up when it nears the completion of the store.
Apple has already opened up several job listings on the online jobs site. Apple's jobs website lists several retail store positions, including Creatives, Experts, Geniuses, Specialists, Business Leaders, and management, while recent LinkedIn posts are looking for a Retail Manager and Senior Manager in Brooklyn. These positions are now available and ripe for the picking. Mac Rumors has it that the company usually opens up job positions a few months before a store opening, which suggests that the Brooklyn store is going to happen soon.
Six Apple stores are in Manhattan. Queens and Staten Island a store each, making Brooklyn an even more conspicuous omission given its size, trendiness, and relative affluence. Apple Insiders suggest that the store will likely open before Black Friday Madness happens in order to make the shopping season line-up.
