A little bit of imagination goes a long way. But if you're smart enough, using it to enhance your career can be the most positive thing to do right now.
Using social media can be beneficial, especially in today's modern world. If done correctly, you can become a successful professional yourself.
1. It's more than a snap - Some social media know-how can be advantageous especially for the fresh graduates. Teen Vogue wrote an article about Erik Sena who used SnapChat to his advantage. He created a SnapChat filter and pushed an ad out to the San Diego area. He geo-tagged it and described himself as a "Copywriter" and "Digital Provocateur." Within hours, he received calls from firms and social media companies.
2. Selling yourself - An 18 year old named Josh Butler auctioned himself on eBay for 16,000 Euros. He was desperate to find a job after applying for hundreds of jobs. Later on, he actually ended up with interviews and ended up as a broker.
3. The perfect Pin on Pinterest - Jeanne Hwang opted for a Pinterest moodboard instead of the usual CV. She didn't end up with a job at Pinterest but she was noticed. Eventually, she ended up getting an offer from a Pinterest analytics company.
4. If you're really that smart like Ashley Towns, then you could hack the hiring process like he did. Ashley built one of the first non-malicious iPhone worms back in 2009 where a virus changed the phone's wallpaper to a photo of Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up." Apple didn't give him a job but an Australian digital firm called Mongeneration wanted him.
5. And if you're really persistent, don't take NO for an answer - Nina Mufleh didn't stop even though she tried everything to get a job. So she sought help from a designer and created a CV that mirrored the AirBnB website. She Wanted AirBnB to hire her and in her website, she showed what she could do for the company. Sure enough, Airbnb's CEO and CMO and had a formal interview almost a week later.
