A family reunion may just happen in "Supergirl Season 2." It looks like Supergirl will be getting the help she needs when she needs it most when her cousin Superman will be joining her in the second season.
According to the CBS-turned-CW television series, Superman will appear in the first two episodes of "Supergirl Season 2." The Hollywood Reporter has it that the introduction of the DC Comic superhero will happen when the show moves to The CW. The show will focus on Superman visiting his cousin Kara (played by Melissa Benoist) in Nation City. However, there are no announcements yet as to who Superman will be. The role is still being cast. Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg is excited for him to don the iconic red cape. The Verge has it that Superman may just be playing a short supporting role for the Supergirl series.
During the first season of "Supergirl," a young Kal-El was played by Daniel DiMaggio. He was featured as a flashback when kara was still on Krypton. But he was only a child and the Superman everybody is waiting for is the adult version. Who will the grown Kryptonian be?
The reason why Superman was not in the first season, in the first place, was because it was never about him. He was always portrayed as a CGI blur when he decides to visit the city or just a chat convo name in Kara's screen.
Another anticipation in "Supergirl's" move to CW and the introduction of Superman may mean a multi-verse crossover. It has been a norm for Arrow to cross with the Flash universe. It's only a matter of time until Supergirl and Superman may do the same.
"Supergirl" returns for season two on Mondays this fall at 8:00PM on The CW.
