Using the iconic CBS station parking lot as the running track, British host James Corden cordially invited the 9-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt, actor-friend Owen Wilson, and the rest of his show's staff-The Late Late Show with James Corden, to prove who really is the fastest man alive.
Known for his witty Carpool Karaoke segments featuring various celebrities singing along as he drives around, Corden took his hands off the wheels to prepare for the 100-meter sprint against Bolt.
Prior to the show's airing, Corden tweeted he "destroyed" Bolt in the said race and the latter replied, "You got jokes I see @JKCorden @latelateshow," tagging Corden and his show's Twitter accounts. The host's followers got fired up asking if Corden beat a new record while some just didn't believe him.
The Late Late show's YouTube account uploaded the video and revealed the momentous truth. With the track full of "non-athletic people" staff as dubbed on the video, Corden who apparently "likes to sit," Wilson racing for his country America, and Bolt representing his homeland, Jamaica, the latter let his challengers eat dust as he proved he really is the fastest man in the world.
With only seconds on his record, Bolt beat Corden who, upon hearing the gunfire, struggled his way to the finish line. Proud of his record, the Olympian said, "Number one! Everyday, I'm the winner!" while waving the Jamaican flag.
Meanwhile, Corden jested, "I would have liked to be in the top 15 but it wasn't my day. That's the life of an athlete." And even before he finished his "excuses", bolt teased him, "You're a loser. I'm number one," while bumping the former's shoulders. Wilson, Corden, and the rest of the group recognized running is definitely Bolt's element.
Corden featured Bolt and Wilson on his show later that night.
