Fans of the altered reality game 'Overwatch' were outraged by the sudden and unexpected early end of the Halloween event, causing a barrage of complaints and angst all over the game's forums. Perhaps the infamous Sombra can fix that?
Game Rant reported that Blizzard Entertainment, maker of 'Overwatch,' initially announced the event would end around 4 p.m. Pacific time on Nov. 1, but then fans were distraught when they pulled the plug an hour earlier. No explanation has been found as to the early termination of the limited-time event.
'Overwatch' provides players the option to choose how to get loot boxes that contain cosmetic items. One of which is to use real cash, while another will be to grind excessively in the gaming environment in order to use in-game money instead. The Halloween event presented limited-time cosmetic items, and so many players invested a huge amount of time to accrue in-game currency needed to obtain the loot boxes without spending real cash. This is where the frustration comes from; Game Rant explains further.
Some fans expressed their anger by calling the company and even providing suggestions. One recommendation is to bring the event back temporarily in light of the unannounced termination of the event, if not at least create a countdown timer so that players are aware of how much time they have left before the event draws to a close.
Another is to make the cosmetic items and skins available even after the event. This way it can simply add to the myriad of choices the player has to customize their characters without the frustration of the discussed dilemma.
BlizzCon 2016 is on its way, and it got followers to thinking that perhaps an explanation will be announced there. Or maybe, is this another angle to the "Sombra" plot as a possible downloadable character?
Engadget reported that Blizzard might be teasing the community with possibly a new DLC character by the name of "Sombra" whose potential concept art has been listed on Blizzard's store page. It doesn't take a lot for the gamers to notice as Sombra even "hacked the 'Overwatch' subreddit," making her presence felt.
Blizzard continues to drop clues, and to great effect, as players try to dig information about the unreleased characters. Speculations arrive at perceiving her to be a "skilled hacker and cryptographer," much to the delight and awe of the fans.
Is Sombra going to appease the anger of the fans due to recent events? One can only hope so.
