Curiously, Tomb Raider is one of the longest running titles in the history of video gaming. This franchise was one of the biggest brands in the late 90's, similar to vintage titles such as Mortal Kombat and Gran Turismo.
The first Tomb Raider video game made its debut in 1996 for several platforms, namely: Sega Saturn and PlayStation 1 consoles as well as in Windows and Mac operating systems for personal computers (PC). For over two decades, Lara Croft has proven to be the hottest female video game character in history. She has indeed left an indelible mark on contemporary popular culture.
