Facebook Mistakenly Posted Death Notification On Active Alive Users; Company Apologized For Terrible Glitch

Many Facebook users were shocked to see a notification when they opened up the profiles of some of their friends only to see a death notification. Quite a lot of people had seemed to have died too on Friday around 4PM ET.

A death notification was posted on top of several Facebook pages and even Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg seemed to have died too. It turns out, a bug had caused all these and not a hoax similar to what happened a few months back as previously reported at Jobs & Hire.

According to a report by Business Insider, the somber notification reads: "We hope people who love Mark will find comfort in the things others share to remember and celebrate his life." The notification also included a link directing to the memorialization of the account of the deceased.

The death notification had caused a frenzy in social media with most people finding humor in the said glitch. Some Facebook users even expressed disappointment that they were not included in the glitch.

New York Times even reported that there were many "aren't we all a little bit dead after election week" jokes. However, many were also lead to believe that their relative and loved ones have died.

As soon as Facebook realized their mistake, they immediately took down the death notification on many people's profiles. They had since apologized for the error and had issued a statement about this.

They said that the death notification meant for memorialized profiles were mistakenly posted on accounts of people who are actually alive. The multi-billion social media company has also acknowledged that the mistake is terrible and that they since already fixed it.

Furthermore, they are very apologetic and said that they "worked as quickly as possible to fix it." People on both mobile and desktop format has reported the death notification.
