"The Originals" Season 4 had its episode count decreased to 13 episodes and this has fans worrying for the show's future. There have been rumors about the show being canceled due to an issue with The CW and ratings.
The CW also excluded "The Originals" from their fall schedule. Fans are used to having both seasons of "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals" airing simultaneously. This decision by The CW sparked cancellation rumors for the show.
However, The CW has cleared up all these rumors pertaining to the spin-off's cancellation in an interview, iTech Post reported. According to Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW, they still have faith in "The Originals" Season 4. Pedowitz also explained that the reason behind their decision to exclude "The Originals" from the fall schedule is to ensure that they will have a strong schedule come midseason of 2017.
Moreover, Pedowitz also shared some information about "The Vampire Diaries," Jobs & Hire reported. It was confirmed that the vampire drama will end on its eighth season. With that in mind, it is also possible that "The Originals" will meet its end as well.
As for Julie Pec, she believes that "The Originals" will still air for a couple more years, despite the end of "The Vampire Diaries." However, despite Plec's wishes, the final decision will still be in the hands of The CW.
Many fans believe that one of the ways to ensure that "The Originals" gets a Season 5, is a crossover with "The Vampire Diaries." Fans have long wished for this to happen as a big finale for "The Vampire Diaries."
Plec also shared that there is one character she will not kill on TVD because that person could reappear in "The Originals." That being said, it is possible that those who survive the TVD Season 8 finale will transition over to "The Originals." Furthermore, fans believe that the character Plex is referring to may be Caroline.
The blonde vampire might just make her way to New Orleans to help Niklaus with his problems. Fans of the Klaroline pairing would definitely love to see the much-needed screen time of the two together. "The Originals" Season 4 is slated for a midseason premiere in 2017. The exact date is yet to be announced by The CW.
