Square Enix is preparing a new installation for the "Dragon Quest" game series and it is slated for release in January 2017. Although the "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey Of The Cursed King" will be exclusive for Nintendo 3DS users, it will come with cool new features and an intriguing story.
"Dragon Quest VIII: Journey Of The Cursed King" will tell the tale of a jester named Dhoulmagus, who apparently steals a scepter from the Trodain Castle. The stolen item belongs to the castle's king and that's where the story starts to roll.
Upon getting his naughty hands on the scepter, he gains powers and jester curses the King to become a troll, the castle's princess into a horse and everyone else into plants. Luckily, one of the castle's residents was able to escape, a loyal guard. He now finds himself obligated to save the kingdom, just like he swore to do.
The main quest in this game is to travel the lands, searching far and wide for allies that will join your cause. As one track down Dhoulmagus, they will bare witness to all the havoc he has wreaked by abusing the king's power. To stop the chaos and to save the kingdom of Trodain, the scepter must be obtained from the clutches of Dhoulmagus.
Square Enix is proud to say that "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey Of The Cursed King" boasts a full-voice acting in important cutscenes, a flexible storyline with alternative endings. In addition, there are also additional quests and goals to achieve as the story unfolds.
As for the new features, "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey Of The Cursed King" has a Quick-Save function which allows players to save the game at any point in time. This handy feature makes the game more portable and convenient for play. In addition, there is also a neat Speed Up feature that will allow the player to go through encounters faster.
According to Polygon, there is also a new aesthetic feature that allows players to take photos outside battles and cut-scenes of course. The gamer can pause the game and proceed to take photos, there is even an option to customize the photo by having the characters strike poses. Photo post production is also available as the player has the option to add stickers, filters, and frames.
However, this new feature requires the in-game item Cameron Obscura. The item can be obtained from Port Prospect in the form of 'Cameron's Codex.' Once obtained, the player can now take photos of nearly anything.
It doesn't stop there, the images taken by the player can be saved to an SD card and can be shared over StreetPass. This allows players to share their experiences in "Dragon Quest VIII: Journey Of The Cursed King" and interact with other players. Fans definitely have a lot to look forward to this 20th of January 2017 once the game is released as a Nintendo 3DS exclusive in Europe and North America as reported by Nintendo.
