‘Divergent 4’ News & Updates: Theo James Not To Return In ‘Ascendant’; Fourth Film Abandoned?

Despite Theo James being the inseparable protagonist in the "Divergent" film series, the latest reports state that he will no longer reprise the role of Tobias Eaton (also known as Four.) On top of that, creators are no longer positive about pursuing the film production after failing the box office in their last sequel's premiere week.

Given the poor reception of "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" as of June 2, 2016, the announcement of the fourth upcoming sequel was currently put on hold. In light of this, the creators are allegedly aiming to redeem its bygone viral caliber by coursing it through a television series spin-off.

As for Theo James, the poor prognosis of the sequel's continuation gave him a convenient reason to forego his future role. According to the celebrity news report published by Mobile & Apps, James is busy preparing for his wedding with his fiancée Ruth Kearney.

Theo James kept the details of his wedding preparation private while also staying clear from commenting on the developments of the sequel. In a similar article featured by Health Aim, James' withdrawal from the main cast is hardly related from the failure of the previous sequel to hit box office records.

Despite this official angle, speculations about Theo James' romantic involvement with lead star Shailene Woodley still refuse to die in online publications. Jobs & Hire once featured a story about how the two "Divergent" stars are being beset by dating rumors.

Bedazzled fans often find it hard to reconcile how the duo can actually be no more than friends and coworkers off-screen. Due in large part to their impressive acting and powerful theatric chemistry in the previous sequels, avid spectators cannot shake the effect of them "looking too good together."

Shailene Woodley differs from the contingency plans of the film creators. She is allegedly planning to withdraw from her role as Tris Prior if they cast her in the television spin-off.
