Hollywood Life reported that Shawn Mendes and the "Kick-Ass" star met during the 2015 American Music Awards. After the event, the duo was in constant communication. The same source revealed that Mendes had a huge crush on the young actress.
She is the perfect girl for him. He loves her frankness and sense of humor. However, he did not pursue her during that time because both of them have their respective partners. Moretz was dating Brooklyn Beckham who allegedly broke off with her because of the "Mercy" singer.
Shawn Mendes is 100 percent single at present. In fact, he walked the red carpet alone during the 2016 American Music Awards. When asked why he was alone, he replied that his parents are not around to join him. When asked if he can date a fan during the event, his reply was a resounding yes.
He was nominated for the New Artist of the Year Award but lost to former One Direction member Zayn Malik. His performances at the 2016 AMAs were two of the best. He sang his hit songs "Mercy" and "Treat You Better."
A young romance might blossom soon in Hollywood. Both Mendes and Moretz are single at present and they both admit finding each other attractive. Fans were hoping to see the actress at the event but she was not able to come.
