Makoto Shinkai's "Kimi No Nawa" or commonly known as "Your Name" in English translation is building up lots of fans around the world. According to some news, it is now Japan's sixth highest-grossing film of all time. Apparently, it reaches to the hearts of its viewers, gripping their emotions as the film's characters show the different faces of Japan.
Definitely, "Your Name" deserves its spot as Japan's highest grossing film today as it depicts many timely realizations for everybody. The film is a good escape to learn "about time, the thread of fate, and the hearts of two young souls."
GamenGuide elaborates, "The animated film explores different movie themes aside from sci-fi and drama, as it also tries to demonstrate adulthood and the struggle of confirming one's identity." Apparently, the story of "Your Name" whirls around two teenagers, Mitsuha and Taki.
One morning, the Taki suddenly woke up as Mitsuha as it allegedly due to dream spirit-switching. Ironically, the shifting helped them surviving each other's life abruptly then it also stopped. Reasonably, Mitsuha lives a different time line.
In brief, the two fell in love as they are continued to be divided by time. Soon, a catastrophic event dragged them forever apart yet Taki has a lingering feeling of missing something. In "Your Name" end, it is also "time" that brought them together.
Remarkably, the "Your Name" storyline isn't the only thing that makes people love it. In a report by The Advertiser, it describes the anime movie theme as very timely as it gives huge Japanese culture impact to its viewers.
"Your Name" opens a window to Japanese culture, now a lot of people can ride with Taki and Mitsuha as they wheel on the different historical places around the country especially on the places commemorated events such as the 2011 Earthquake incident.
