"The Walking Dead" Season 7 is now facing low ratings, in fact, this is the lowest it has been since 2013. There are many reasons why the ratings have sunken this low and the show may face more bad news in the future.
When a show gets low ratings, renewals are harder to nab from the network. Although it is still way too early to start worrying about "The Walking Dead" being canceled, fans are trying to figure out what exactly is causing the low ratings. A report claims that a recent episode comparison showed less that 11 million viewers, which is relatively lower as compared to the 17 million views during its Season 7 premiere.
"The Walking Dead" Season 7 has advertised itself so much during the pre-season that fans expected a lot from the upcoming season. The cliffhanger left by Season 6 left fans in a craze trying to figure out who Negan will kill. Unfortunately, that question was answered during the Season premiere and many fans did not like the answer.
Moreover, "The Walking Dead" Season 7 informed fans that the premiere was only the beginning, and it gets worse from there. After witnessing the brutal deaths of Glenn and Abraham in "The Walking Dead" Season 7 Episode 1, fans are horrified about what may come next.
Many fans have expressed themselves in social media before the Season 7 premiere, saying that they will abandon the show if a certain character dies. Apparently, team Glenn and team Abraham might have been serious about ditching the show.
According to Game N Guide, the network has observed a consistent decline of viewers in a short amount of time, with every week having a decreased amount of viewers tuned in. Reports claim that there is a whopping 25 percent decrease in viewers as compared to the premiere episode.
Although "The Walking Dead" still has 11 million people following the series, the consistent drop in viewership is still alarming. However, FX's hit zombie-thriller is still one of the most-watched shows on television.
It is worth mentioning that possible incoming cancellation rumors have already been slammed. As per IGN, AMC has already renewed "The Walking Dead" for Season 8. However, despite having a next season secured, perhaps it would be best to lessen the gore by a notch or two. Stay tuned to Jobs & Hire for more updates on your favorite post-apocalypse zombie series.
