Supercell, the developer of "Clash of Clans," released a video on YouTube featuring a 360-degree view of Hog Riders attacking a Town Hall. The video spawned speculations that the developer will soon introduce Virtual Reality features into "Clash of Clans" to keep pace with the current mobile gaming leader "Pokemon GO."
With "Clash of Clans" fans still waiting for the supposed massive December 2016 update, speculations continue to surface with regards to the upcoming tweaks in the game. Supercell released the said Hog Rider video on its official YouTube channel which sparked rumors that the developer is about to introduce a virtual reality (VR) feature into the game. The video has been viewed more than 24 million times.
In the Hog Rider 360-Degree video, a player can see what the Hog Rider can see. With "Pokemon GO" being set up as an augmented-reality game, Supercell can probably do the same and respond by bringing a VR feature in "Clash of Clans."
However, gamers have no idea how the VR feature would work. Given that "Clash of Clans" is primarily played on mobile devices, incorporating VR might prove to be difficult to integrate. On the other hand, "Clash of Clans" is available for download and can now be played on computers, giving fans a glimmer of hope that the game can soon be played using VR.
"Clash of Clans" has been at the top of the mobile gaming industry since its release in 2012. However, since "Pokemon GO" debuted into the scene last July 2016, "Clash of Clans" has begun a steady decline, losing players to the location-based augmented reality game. With the annual December 2016 update, Supercell is likely aiming to close the gap.
In an effort to catch up with the relentless rise of "Pokemon Go," Supercell has announced that a Clash-world-based animated series will be launched in December. However, Supercell has yet to confirm the rumors about the new characters and in-game features that are supposed to be included in "Clash of Clans" December 2016 update.
Regardless, with the introduction of the animated series, the rumors about the new in-game features and characters, and now the speculations about this VR feature, Supercell is giving fans a lot of reasons to be excited about. And if these rumors buzzing around have any substance at the very least, "Clash of Clans" players are in for an early Christmas treat. Watch out "Pokemon GO!"
