The younger Verstappen is the youngest-ever winner of a Grand Prix and the first racing under the Dutch flag. Before he reached 18, he became the youngest driver to join in Formula One at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix for Scuderia Toro Rosso.
The young driver had the rare opportunity of spending a holiday vacation with the racing legend, Michael Schumacher. His father is a friend of the German racer and is a champion racer himself. Daily Mail reported that Max Verstappen recalled that he was around six years old when he met Corrina Schumacher's husband. He was friendly and loves to hang around children.
He was relaxed and his fitness preparation before a race is commendable. He is the perfect example of how one should go about sports, he said.
This year he was recognized as the youngest Grand Prix winner at 18. He has been seven times in the podium surpassing his father who has two in his entire career.
Michael Schumacher is the ultimate racer, states the younger Verstappen but he wants to do it his own way. His father started training him when he was young in Brazil. He learned a lot from him, particularly in wet-weather driving. Now that he is a grownup, he was given freedom to live on his own. His father trusts his focus on the sport.
"I just want to keep learning and getting better all the time," he said showing confidence and determination to achieve what his boyhood idol has attained. Michael Schumacher is still lying on his bed trying to recover. If he can watch Max Verstappen's races in the future, that depends on the will of the Supreme Power above.
