Good news for all those who love "Vampire Chronicles"!Your favorite novel series will finally make its way on the small screen.
On Saturday,Anne Rice posted on her Facebook page that "Vampire Chronicles" will finally be a TV series.The author acquired the theatrical film rights to the novel series and in her Facebook post,she wrote,"The theatrical rights to the Vampire Chronicles are once again in my hands, free and clear!"
Anne Rice always wanted to make a television series of the highest quality,and finally, she will make that dream come true.The author said that we are in a new Golden Age of Television.What better way to let the story of "Vampire Chronicles" unfold than through a TV series.
She and her son, Christopher Rice will be the executive producers of the said TV series. They are developing the pilot script and outline for an open-ended series.The first episode will be entitled "The Vampire Lestat", and from there, they will move on to the next steps.
According to The Hollywood Reporter ,Universal Studios and Imagine Entertainment acquired the film rights to the book series in 2014. They were planning to develop the novel series into movies but it was not that successful.Anne Rice was more convinced that her novel series is best for TV series. "It is, more than ever, abundantly clear that television is where the vampires belong."The author said.
The "Vampire Chronicles" is a series of novels about Lestat de Lioncourt,a French nobleman from the 18th century who turned into a vampire. The Vampire Chronicles was adapted into two films.
The first adaptation was the "Interview with the Vampire:The Vampire Chronicles" in 1994 starring Tom Cruise as Lestat,with Brad Pitt,Kirsten Dunst, and Antonio Banderas. The next movie entitled "Queen of the Damned" was released in 2002 starring Stuart Townsend as Lestat and Aaliyah as Akasha.
