Season 3 is not receiving any cancellation notice so avid fans can rest easy because we'll be seeing "Tokyo Ghoul" for sure sooner or later. Several reasons are allegedly causing the delays for the series. While others are true, some issues required confirmations from the makers.
According to Movie News Guide, one of the reason for the delay is that Madhouse Studios will be taking over the project for the third season from Studio Pierrot. Madhouse is well known for the success of the hit anime series "One Punch Man" and "Death Note". Fans are not happy with the delay but the transfer made them excited as Madhouse has proven to bring 'darkness' to their works like what they've done with "Death Note".
Secondly, there are reports that the writer and illustrator of "Hunter X Hunter" can't continue the series because of some health problems. "Tokyo Ghoul" creator, Sui Ishida, is supposed to take over the series until Yoshihiro Togashi recovers. This unfortunate event set aside "Tokyo Ghoul" into an unexpected hiatus.
Another reason for the delay of "Tokyo Ghoul" is that the previous season went on a different story compared to its manga counterpart. This resulted into a mixed reaction between the viewers. This also posed a problem to the new publisher as they will have to make another storyline.
Amidst all these delays, fans will never go empty handed as "Tokyo Ghoul" will have a live-action movie that is set to release in summer next year. The movie will be focusing on the early struggle of Kaneki Ken as a ghoul. The award winning Japanese actor, Masataka Kubota is selected for the role of the protagonist Kaneki Ken.
As for the plot, "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will be focusing on Kaneki Ken and Kirishima Touka who is seen in the finale of the last season opening a new café. Fans will also get the chance to see Kaneki in his full Kakuja form.
The makers remains tight lipped regarding the air date of season 3. There are rumors saying that the series will premiere on March 2017, while other say that it will be pushed further to winter 2017 or even 2018. One thing is for certain and that is "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will not be materializing soon, but we will have the live-action movie which is sure to come next year.
