Juan Martin Del Potro’s 2016 Tennis Run: The Most Inspiring Sports Story This Year

He is the comeback kid in 2016. Accomplishing so many remarkable feats in just five to six months, he climbed the ladder of the ATP Ranking. From ranked. No.1045 in February, he currently ranked No.38. Here's a look at his amazing journey before the year closes:

February: His return from wrist injuries which plagued most of his career for the past three years was felt in Delray Beach. He lost to Sam Querry 7-5, 7-5. This time, Del Potro is confident that he can do better in coming tournaments.

July: Then he made his presence felt strongly in Wimbledon, defeating Stan Wawrinka 3-6,6-3,7-6 (3), 6-3. The Swiss backhand expert has all praises for Del Potro's impressive forehand after their first encounter in four years.

August: Jobs & Hire

September: He had a magical moment in the US Open. It was stopped by Stan Wawrinka in the quarterfinals. Even though he lost, his performance is still impressive. His defeat provided all the drama that night as the crowd chanted his name after seeing him crying.

November-December: And just few days ago, Del Potro staged what might be his best performance this year. After defeating Murray in the semis of Davis Cup, he then soon found himself trailing two sets behind Marin Cilic in the finals. Pushed against the wall, he somehow closed the gap to two sets all after finally finishing the match-6-7(4), 2-6,7-5, 6-4, 6-3. It lasted for almost five hours. It was the first Davis Cup trophy for Argentina and Del Potro ones again became a hero.
