Aidan Turner is currently shooting in Cornwall for "Poldark" Season 3, reprising his role as Ross. But, there's a big possibility that this could be his last season for the show, especially if season 4 already features the time skip.
According to Movie News Guide, there's a possibility that "Poldark" will continue beyond season 3 due to the show's success. BBC could actually have up to a season 6, given the number of books that "Poldark" has.
Of course, the producers could still opt to end the show after season 3. But in order to justify that, BBC will have to cover a lot from the books so they could end "Poldark" after three seasons.
Digital Spy also mentions that BBC said there's no truth that "Poldark" will be a five part series. If the producers do decide to continue the show, there's still a possibility that Turner won't be returning for the succeeding seasons.
There are a few obstacles that will prevent Turner from returning after season 3 and one of them is the time-jump in the books. If "Poldark" Season 4 begins with the time-jump, it means Ross would have aged significantly. Ross would already be in his mid-50s, which would be a problem for Turner.
"There's a big time jump between two of the books and Ross gets older - and I can't pull off mid-50s!" Turner said. "So I don't know what will happen."
Another obstacle to Turner possibly returning for further seasons of "Poldark" is the rumor circulating that's linking Turner to be the next 007. If the Irishman does become James Bond, there's a possibility that he will be too busy to continue his role as Ross in "Poldark."
Of course, everything is just rumors and speculation at the moment. For now, fans should anticipate the upcoming Season 3 of "Poldark," where Turner is returning as Ross.
