Anime Fans Rejoice As 'My Hero Academia' Makes New York Times Best TV Of 2016 List

The New York Times has just released the choice for the best TV shows for 2016 and sweetest of all surprises is the inclusion as number 7 of "My Hero Academia" in the Best International Show category. Fans will surely remember this accolade on their favorite show.

This is how New York Times worded the citation," 'MY HERO ACADEMIA' Japan (Funimation) In the self-aware category of Japanese anime, this shrewdly written and dynamically drawn series posits a world in which 80 percent of humanity has developed some sort of special powers (not all of them super, and not all used for good). But it focuses on a fanboy who obsessively follows the new costumed heroes while having no abilities of his own - a perfect stand-in for the anime and manga audience."

The international Best films list also included "Happy Valley," a cop movie, the mafia story "Gomorrah," and the London comedy "Fleabag." Only three other animated films were included in the listings.

The Film "Bojack Horseman" made it to the Overall List, while the anime hybrid "Dream Corp LLC" and "Legends of Chamberlain" were also included in the Outlandish Films List.

Crunchyroll says that the list was a nice surprise for anime fans. Now that the film "My Hero Academia" has been recognized as one of the best films, fans will be anticipating that the anime will move forward to another episode of fun.

Anime Lover reports that the latest 25-minute episode "Sukuel Kyujo Kunren" (Save! Rescue Training ) that was released on November 27, 2017 in Tokyo and on December 4, 2017 in four other cities in Japan will be bundled with 13th manga book. That bundle is said to happen on April 4, 2017.

Fans can now expect a new episode to continue the "My Hero Academia" story. The new episode will be based on the synopsis book written by Kohei Horikoshi, the original manga creator.
