"Class" is the "Doctor Who" spin-off Whovians should be watching. Critics called it "a young-adult series that brings The Doctor in the 21st century."
The "Doctor Who" spin-off series is about a group of teenagers who had to face intergalactic problems while trying to pass their A-level exams. It is set in Coal Hill Academy, formerly called Coal Hill School, where ex-companion Clara Oswald once taught.
Speaking of "Doctor Who," Jobs & Hire reported that The Doctor would be returning next year for "Doctor Who" Season 10. However, this time he will not be accompanied by The Impossible Girl but by a new companion named Bill that will be played by Pearl Mackie.
Going back to the spin-off series, it is said to be a unique series that brings maturity to the well-known classic series. The series is filled with mature themes that parents would have to explain to their children.
"The series had casual sex, gender fluidity and a gay alien prince. The show made viewers believe on a group of students that comprises of a head girl, a shape shifting alien gay prince, a child genius and a disabled jock. It is intricately built that brought an intergalactic civil war in a London secondary school," The Guardian reported.
"Doctor Who" writer Steven Moffat explained that the spin-off series is dark and sexy. Moffat explained that the series is reminiscent of the 90s TV Show "Buffy: The Vampire Slayer" where high school kids battle forces beyond their reach.
Patrick Ness explained that the "Doctor Who" spin-off is aimed to teenager but he would want it to extend beyond young adults. He explained that he would be very grateful if it reaches beyond its intended audience, Digital Spy reported.
The creator of the spin-off series explained that he took everything that he loved from young adult series and incorporated it to the show. Ness explained that young-adult series has the tendency to take teenagers seriously.
He used the characters' teenage complexity into the Doctor Who Universe. "Class" is composed of eight episodes that ended on December 3.
