Ritz Kobayashi's comic book "Saki" airs as a live-action series, plus a feature film of the same book will be shown on Feb. 3, 2017. A poster teaser and a 60-second trailer were released on the live-action project's website earlier on Friday.
The game and adventure-themed manga series that revolves around the story of a girl named Saki Miyanaga, who was introduced to the world of mahjong, has been ongoing since 2009. MBS and TBS have been generously airing a live-action project for the manga with a total of four TV episodes.
The poster teaser features all the main characters of the story in school uniform. The loyal fans could easily identify their favorites dressed up in their respective real-life "human forms."
In the "Saki" live-action website, much of the story's information including its introduction, synopsis, cast list and news are all available for public viewing. The newest updates on the upcoming film based on the same series are also posted there, together with its broadcasting schedule.
Since the craze for "Saki" has started, a lot of spin-offs and side stories have been released to further enhance Kobayashi's creation and to prolong the existence of the uniquely exciting plot. According to the information uploaded on Manga Updates, related series like "Saki - Achiga Hen - Episode of Side-A, Shinohayu - The Dawn of Age, and Toki have come out as big hits as well.
Akio Translations has recently published the translated versions of the comics too. Currently, in Japan, "Saki" has a total of 15 volumes that are all ongoing.
The fans are excited for the upcoming feature film scheduled to hit the screens nationwide on Feb. 3. The challenge has been taken on by renowned screenwriter Yuichi Konumar, Crunchy Roll reported.
The film screening is not until two months, but if you want to get ahead of everyone, the ticket selling will begin this Dec. 20.
Elsewhere, "Gintama" anime is also being adapted as a live-action film coming in 2017, as Jobs & Hire previously learned.
